Blackboard Vista: Editing Your Profile Photo

Faculty and students now have the ability to add photos and descriptions to their profiles in Blackboard Vista. Photos are a way to bring about a sense of community in online courses, as well as large enrollment courses. Both you and your students can now upload a personal photo and description to your Blackboard profile. The use of these features is optional, and students can decide whether to make their photo or description visible only to the instructor or to the entire the class.

Step 1: Log in to Blackboard Vista

  1. Log in to Blackboard Vista.

Step 2: Modify Profile Settings

  1. Click the My Settings link in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Edit Profile

  1. Click Edit Profile.

Step 4: Upload Profile Picture

  1. Below the photo block, click Browse. NOTE:  You must accept pop-ups from Blackboard Vista for the browse window to display.
  2. From the Get Files dialog box, click My Computer. The My Computer dialog box is displayed (not illustrated).
  3. Locate your picture from a folder on your computer and click Open. NOTE: The recommended height and width of the photo is 320 by 240 pixels (not illustrated).
  4. The photo is displayed on your profile page. NOTE: If you would like your profile picture to be visible to the class, check the Public box above the picture.
  5. (Optional) In the Other field, type information you wish to share with your instructor and peers such as your major, your classification, or hobbies. NOTE: If you would like your description to be visible to the class, check the public box to the right of the "Other" field. Maximum number of characters in field is limited to 798.
  6. Click Save.
