How do I login to Blackboard Vista?
You can use two methods to log into Blackboard Vista, direct access or 49er Express.
Direct Login
- Open you browser and go to http://bbvista.uncc.edu/
- From the navigation banner, click the Login to Blackboard Vista link.
- Click the UNC Charlotte link.
- In the User name text box, type your NinerNET user name.
- In the Password text box, type your NinerNET password.
- Click OK.
49er Express Login
- Open your browser and go to http://www.uncc.edu/
- Click on the 49er Express link.
- In the Username text box, type your NinerNet user name.
- In the Password text box, type your NinerNet password.
- Click Login.
- In the "My Courses" area, click the Access Blackboard Vista link.
- Click the UNC Charlotte link.
- In the User name text box, type your NinerNet user name.
- In the Password text box, type your NinerNet password.
- Click OK.
What is NinerNET?
NinerNET is the term used to refer to your University User Name and password combination. Your NinerNET information is used to log into various campus systems and applications. For more information, visit the Student Computing's NinerNET information page.
What should I do if the "My Computer" icon is missing?
- Log out of Blackboard Vista.
- Close the browser.
- Restart your browser and verify that all pop-up blockers are off.
- Log into Blackboard Vista.
- You should be prompted to accept a Java Security Certificate. You must click Yes or Always to ensure that Learning System functionality using Java will work properly in your browser.
- The "My Computer" icon should be displayed.
- If the icon is still missing, place your mouse pointer in the spot where the My Computer icon should be displayed and move the mouse pointer slowly to the left until it changes into a pointing finger icon.
- Click the mouse button. The Upload Files from Your Computer window is displayed.
- Click the Click here to select files individually link. The screen updates.
- Click the first Browse button. The Choose File dialog box is displayed.
- Use the "Look In" drop-down list to navigate to the folder where your file is saved.
- Select the file and click Open. The Upload Files from Your Computer window is displayed. The path and filename are displayed next to the Browse button you clicked.
- Click OK. The file is uploaded.

- Try logging in again making sure to use your NinerNET information.
- Use the Password Manager to reset your password if you are still experiencing problems.
I am taking a quiz/assessment and my answers are not being saved in the Question Status area - there is an explanation mark ! displayed instead of a checkmark. I have clicked the Save Answer button. What can I do?
- If you have answered any questions that were not saved, write the answers on a piece of paper or take a screen shot of the answers.
- Close the quiz/assessment window by clicking on the x (Close button).
- Log out of Blackboard Vista.
- Close the browser.
- Open the browser.
- Clean your cache - cookies, temporary internet files and history.
- Log back into Blackboard Vista.
- Click the course link.
- Access the Assessment tool.
- Click the link for the quiz/assessment.
- Click Continue Assessment.
- For a question that an answer has not been saved, select an answer and click Save Answer. The answer should be saved.
How do I clean the cache if I am using Internet Explorer 6.0?
- Open Internet Explorer and choose Tools, Internet Options.
- On the General tab, in the “Temporary Internet files” area, click Delete Cookies. The Delete Cookies dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
- When that is done processing, click Delete Files. The Delete Files dialog box is displayed.
- Click OK.
- When that is done processing, click Clear History. The Internet Explorer dialog box is displayed.
- Click Yes.
- Click OK.

- On the right side of the screen, on the command bar, click Tools.
- Select Delete Browsing History. The Delete Browsing History dialog box is displayed.
- Click Delete Files. The Delete Files dialog box is displayed.
- Click Yes.
- When that is done processing, click Delete Cookies. The Delete Cookies dialog box is displayed.
- Click Yes.
- When that is done processing, click Delete History. The Delete History dialog box is displayed.
- Click Yes.
- Click Close.
How do I clean the cache if I am using Mozilla Firefox?
- Open Mozilla Firefox and choose Tools, Clear Private Data. The Clear Private Data dialog box is displayed.
- Verify that the following options are checked:
- Browsing History
- Saved Form and Search History
- Cache
- Cookies
- Authenticated Sessions
- Click Clear Private Data Now.
How do I clean the cache if I am using Safari on a Macintosh?
- From the Safari menu, click Empty Cache.The following message is displayed: “Are you sure you want to empty the cache?”
- Click Empty.
- From the Safari menu, click Preferences.
- Along the top of the dialog box, click Security.
- Click Show Cookies. The Cookie dialog box is displayed.
- Click to select a cookie, and click Remove.
NOTE: Alternatively, if you want to delete all cookies, click Remove All.
- Click Done.
I have just submitted my assignment. How do I know I submitted it properly?
- When you submit an assignment, click the Submit button, the screen updates and you should see a yellow bar with a confirmation message in it.
- Click OK to clear the message. The assignment moves from the Inbox tab to the Submitted tab.
- Click the Submitted tab.
- Click the link for the assignment you just submitted. The assignment opens and you can see what you have uploaded.
- When you are finished viewing the submitted assignment, click OK.
I have just submitted my quiz/assessment. How do I know if it was submitted properly?
- When you submit an assessment, click the Finish button, the screen updates and you should see a yellow bar with a confirmation message in it.
- Click OK to clear the message. The Assessments screen is displayed.
- Click View All Submissions.The View All Submissions screen is displayed.
- For the quiz/assessment in question, click the Attempt 1 link. You will be able to see your answers.
- Scroll to the bottom of the quiz/assessment and click Done.

If you are using Internet Explorer 6.x, please try the following:
- Open Internet Explorer and choose Tools, Internet Options.
- On the General tab, in the “Temporary Internet Files” area, click Delete Cookies.
- When that is done processing, click Delete Files.
- When that is done processing, click Clear History.
- Click the Security tab.
- If there is a slider in the “Security Level for this Zone” area, slide it to Medium. If no slider is visible, click Default Level and move the slider to Medium.
- Click the Privacy tab. In the “Settings” area, move the slider to Low.
- Click Apply and then OK.
Please try logging in again. If you still cannot log in, adjust your time (in lower right-hand corner). You must be logged in as an administrator:
- Right click on the clock in the lower right corner of the screen, select Adjust Date/Time.
- Select the Internet Time tab.
- Check “Automatically synchronize with an Internet time server”.
- In the “Server” drop-down menu, select time.nist.gov.
- Click Update Now.
- Click Apply.
Please try logging in again. If you still can not log in, try the following:
- Open your browser and choose Tools, Internet Options.
- In the “Temporary Internet files” area, click the Settings button.
- Under “Check for newer versions of stored pages” choose Automatically.
- Click OK.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Trusted sites.
- Click Sites.
- Uncheck “Require server verification for all sites in this zone.”
- Click in the “Add this website to the zone:” textbox.
- Type ncvista.blackboard.com
- Click Add.
- Click OK.
- Click the Privacy tab.
- Adjust the “Privacy slider to Medium-high, Medium, Low, or Accept all cookies.”
- Under “Pop-up Blocker” heading, click Settings.
- Type the address ncvista.blackboard.com to allow pop-ups from Blackboard Vista.
- Click the Add button.
- Click the Close button.
- Click the Connections tab.
- Click LAN Settings.
- Uncheck “Automatically Detect Settings.”
- Click OK.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Under “Browsing”, uncheck “Show friendly HTTP error messages.”
- Under “Java”, make sure the correct Java version is checked.
- Under “Microsoft VM” uncheck all boxes.
- Click Apply.
- Click OK.
Please try logging in again. If you still can not log in, try the following:
- Remove spyware from your computer (for example, Spybot, Adaware).
- Disable any hardware (routers, firewalls) or software (anti-spam, firewall, Internet security programs) that may block cookies.

How can I remove older courses from the My Blackboard Vista list?
It is not possible to remove old courses from your course list. However, you can hide and/or sort courses in your My Blackboard Vista Course List making it easier to find the courses you want to access.
NOTE: If you have more than one course title that begins with the same letters/numbers, pay attention their current order; you may not be able to see the entire name in the “Edit Course List” screen.
- In the Course List title bar, click the Pencil icon.
- If you want to hide a course, on the right in the “Visibility” column, click Hide Link.
NOTE: This option is a toggle; when you can see a course the option is to Hide Link but when the course is hidden the option is to Show Link.
- You can also check a box or boxes to the left of the course title(s) and click the Hide or Show buttons at the bottom of the Edit Course List table.
- If you want to sort the list check the box to the left of the course title you want to change and in the “Move” column click the Move Options icon, either above or below where it should go, and select either Move Selected Above or Move Selected Below from the drop-down menu.
- When you are done editing the order/display of your course list you need to click on the My Blackboard Vista tab.
NOTE: There is no Save, OK or Apply button for this area. The My Blackboard Vista tab looks like it is already selected but you must click on it to return to your My Blackboard Vista screen.
How do I request to use Blackboard Vista with my course? (Faculty Only)
Blackboard Vista courses must be activated every semester. Faculty can request to have their courses activated through the Blackboard Vista Support Site at http://bbvista.uncc.edu/ and click the Blackboard Vista Coruse Activation Request link.
NOTE: Activation for individual courses takes 1 - 2 days, while activation for crosslisted courses can take up to 5 days. After submitting a course activation request, faculty will receive an automatic email reply letting them know their request has been received. They will also receive an email when the course(s) are activated and ready for use.
My Grade Book has disappeared. What should I do? (Faculty Only)
Many instructors using Internet Explorer, or IE, are seeing a blank screen when clicking on the Grade Book link from Teach tab. Clearing your browser’s cache and history should help. The following steps explain how:
NOTE: You will get warning messages following the instructions below and will need to accept all.
- From your browser menu, select Tools.
- From the Tools drop-down menu, select Internet Options.
- If you are not already on it, click the General tab.
- In the “Temporary Internet files” area, click Delete Cookies.
- Click OK.
- In the "Temporary Internet files" area, click Delete Files.
- Click OK.
- In the “History” area, click Clear History.
- Click Yes.
- Click OK.
